About me

I studied law (LLM), with a focus on civil and administrative law, at the VU University in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. I also successfully completed master’s degrees in economics and accountancy (MSc), and philosophy (MA), at the same university.

I am an attorney-at-law / partner at Trident Attorneys, a leading law firm in the Dutch Caribbean, with its main office in Curaçao. I advise and litigate in matters within all areas of civil and administrative law, and provide legal services to local as well as international corporate entities, governments, private clients and non-profit institutions.

Previously, I worked at reputable law firms in Curaçao and the Netherlands, and was a staff member at the Court of Appeal in Amsterdam and assistant philosophy professor at the VU University in Amsterdam.

I am winner of the Prof. Mr. T.J. Dorhout Mees Award (2000), and coauthor of Kluwer’s case law guide on the insurance practice. I am also a frequent lecturer on Law of Property and Law of Obligations.

My other passions include Linux and Open Source, blockchain technology and its various implementations, and chess. I am multiple national chess champion and member of the Curaçao national team. I attained the international FIDE Master (abbreviated as FM) chess title, following the Chess Olympiad held in Baku, Azerbaijan. The title was awarded in September 2016 by FIDE (Fédération Internationale des Échecs), the World Chess Federation.
